About The Knights of Dor

I posted an article more or less like this one over at Comixpedia.

The Knights of Dor was originally a print comic in Norway created by InkaLill Røsberg. It follows the adventures of a band of seven Knights in the magical world of Dor.

Although nominally set in a traditional fantasy setting, the universe surrealistically blends some aspects of modern life - such as newspapers and photography, with more traditional fantasy fare like swords and spells, intentionally making the time period more ambiguous.

The story draws as much from traditional Norwegian folklore (seen especially in the unique Norwegian characterization of Trolls) as it does from more standard sources such as Tolkien and C.S. Lewis. A family-friendly comic that doesn't speak down to adults, it rises above traditional fantasy cliches with political intrigue, fascinating characters, and plenty of puns.

It debuted for the first time way back in 1992, and went on to become quite popular in Norway. It won the Sproing prize twice, the most prestigious award in Norwegian Comics. It debuted on the web in 2006 with Webcomics Nation after it was translated into English by Lars Andreas Doucet, not to be confused with Lars Petter Røsberg, InkaLill's husband, who works with his wife as the team's graphic designer.
