I'm a Christian as well as an avid gamer. But, you'll find I'm pretty vehemently against most in-your-face evangelists. To be quite honest, people are human beings, not prospective converts. But, that said, I'm not going to set aside my religion because someone doesn't agree with it, and I make no apologies for those beliefs.
I'm also a gamer, and a self-professed Game Designer. Mainly this stems from the fact that I've been taught design all my life. My dad never realized that was what he was teaching me, but he instilled the frame of mind in me to ALWAYS consider what you are doing based on what the end result should be. Never simply start doing a task without purpose. And, years of thought, dozens if not hundreds of corollaries later, and some brilliant analysis by my friend Lars, I have come by what some might call a "natural" sense for design. But I haven't been schooled in it. At least not yet.
Now, as for that gamer thing I mentioned. I really got my start on the NES. I was born in '84, so I never really experienced the Atari generation, but consoles are really my passion. Sure, computers have better graphics and tons more options to tweak, but a console works when you plug it in, and you never have to worry about it. Plus, it's far better to sit around a 30 inch screen in the living room than crowd a little 19 inch monitor in my room. That's really the main factor: consoles are a better social experience. You just don't get the same effect spending all that time online. And I know some people could argue with me on that, but it's really a prefence. I prefer easy set up, and getting together in the same physical room with my friends.
